    The Copthorne 200

    Thursday 21st November 2024 16:00

To celebrate five years of Canary Trail Events, we're putting on a one off event.

    The Copthorne 200 miler!

Running the same weekend as our flagship Copthorne Races, this is going to be the ultimate test of endurance over our Copthorne Loop.

With only 72 hours to complete the race, you will need to draw on all of your race experiences to get a finish on this event.

Modelled on the infamous Caesars Camp races, The Copthorne Races take place in Surrey, featuring a wide mix of terrain, woodland and contouring in and around the Box Hill, Mickleham and Headley areas.

The 200 mile Anniversary race will start at Boxhill Village Hall & finish at Mickleham Village Hall 72 hours later, covering a route of nearly twenty 10.3mile loops. Each loop giving approximately 2,260 feet of ascent with a total ascent for the race coming in at just over a staggering 44,000ft or one & a half Everests!

Take a look at the official photos from Leonard Martin to get a feel for the loop at the 2022 Copthorne Races.

We're limiting this race to only 30 runners & each runner is allowed one crew member if they so wish.

Starting at 4pm, the race goes into the night with no midway checkpoint until 8am on friday morning, however, you will have full access to your drop bag at Boxhill village hall every 10miles & your crew member can meet you anywhere on the course until 8am Friday where they will then only be allowed to meet you at either Boxhill Hall or Mickleham Hall.

The 200 mile runners will be stationed throughout the race at Boxhill Village Hall, where along with access to your drop bags, we will provide an area to sleep in if needed. Please bring sleeping bags, mats or camp beds as required. Upon leaving the hall on your last part loop, we will pack up your kit & drop bag to transport down to Mickleham to await your arrival at the finish line.

Mickleham Village Hall will be well stocked with the ‘usual’ ultramarathon nutrition and hot food will be available for the 200 mile runners at Boxhill Village Hall from approximately 12 Noon on the Friday.

Whilst we try to cater for everybody, please bring along any specific foodstuffs or drinks you require. Please ensure these are well labelled with your race number & they will be stocked at Boxhill only.
